TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Authorities said a bullet from a gun that was accidentally dropped injured a Tampa woman sitting in a bathroom stall. Police said the bullet hit 53-year-old Janifer Bliss in the lower left leg. She was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Bliss was sitting on the toilet in a hotel bathroom when a woman in the next stall accidentally let her handgun slip out of her waist holster. The weapon discharged when it hit the ground.

Holey Crap!
Dump.
Ever.
...bad holster. Good leather snugly fits the form of the weapon that’s in it, and all rigs should have thumb breaks or other extra retention devices. At least one company even makes a few western drop belt holsters that fit particular revolver models (Triple K).
I’ve tried a thigh holster (gun strapped to thigh under a skirt). It feels funny at first but it’s good for hot weather when it’s hard to conceal somewhere else. It was perfect for Arizona (hot weather & concealed carry state).
On the other hand, if you’re going to have an involuntary “accident” of that type, sitting on the toilet will prevent unsightly underwear stains.
I’ll bet I know what she yelled!

I’ll forgive you, but just how do you calculate the risk/reward? If you met a stranger with a gun strapped to a thigh?
Approach? Retreat?
Depend on alcohol consumption?
If I met a stranger and got far along enough to find a gun strapped to a thigh under a dress or skirt...
Question answered, and it didn’t even require getting sloshed haha.
Pistols tend NOT to fire when dropped. There’s more to this story than we’re being told.
That was my question too; wouldn’t mind seeing an example. ;)
Yes, I’m thinking Rule 3 was violated. It typically has been, in cases of this general nature.

O.K. Strike approach, retreat. Substitute continue, withdraw. No, withdraw does not contemplate something that could happen long after approach is chosen.
Agree
Junk gun or more likely was diddling with it.
