This is an example of poor gun control. /sarc

Seriously, I don't like how the gun hit the floor and "went off." I think something more might come out of this, unfortunately.

I’ve never heard of a woman playing with her gun in the bathroom.

And toilet paper leaves a lot of lint on firearm surfaces, too.

Most modern firearms will not go off when dropped.

Another case of media getting the story wrong.

This is one of the reasons I reluctant to carry.

However, I’m glad that a lot of people are willing to take on the responsiblity, as it makes us all safer.

Some models of semi-auto handguns are prone to firing when dropped. It can happen. Especially if the safety was off, or if it doesn’t have a safety.

If it was a revolver, then there might be something else, as I don’t know of anyone who carries a revolver cocked. If she was handling it, cocked it and then accidentally dropped it, that could be the only thing I see that could have happened accidentally.

Ditto. I simply don't get how this happens. What kind of gun AD's like this? I carry my Beretta 92FS with one in the chamber, decocked, safety on, and it's impossible for it to go off unless I really, really mean it.

Do stupid people actually carry chambered, cocked, no safety, or are there some incredibly horrible handgun designs out there?

It’s crap, BE. At least one person at the scene is lying.

A fully-loaded revolver without a transfer bar, or a semi with a round in the chamber and no firing pin safety, perhaps?

Bovine Excrement.

Guns do NOT "go off" when you drop them. It's a media-perpetuated myth.

How did the media get the story wrong. They reported what the police said.

Do you know what really happened?

Yeah, I saw a video of a NRA certified instructor (part time auxillary cop), and he had an negligent discharge when he pulled his gun out of his truck during a felony takedown. His testimony was "It just went off", when the video in the cruiser showed that he was watching the felony takedown, and not the fact that he pulled the trigger. No one hurt, but alot of excuses got thrown around (as well as bullets), same as in this case IMHO.

Even chambered, cocked, and safety off, a newish 1911 has a grip safety that prevents trigger movement unless you’re grasping the grip, as well as a firing pin safety operated by either the trigger or the same grip safety that prevents momentum from moving the firing pin if the pistol hits the ground muzzle first.

asssuming the stalls had typical metal panels, there’s something fishy about getting shot in the “lower thigh” by an un-aimed bullet.

Being the mouthpiece of the police is not reporting.

Are you joking? I have been taught (someone correct me if I have been misled) that there are 3 (I think) different features on the Glock design that prevent it from AD when
dropped. Calling all Glock experts....

Being the mouthpiece of the police is not reporting.

So if they are not supposed to report what the police said, how should they have reported this?

I know... that's what I'm saying - I don't get it. I know even a cocked, unlocked 1911 wouldn't AD like that.
