You said — I’ve been using Safari 4 for XP and love it...except for the constant crashing. Hopefully this new version fixes the stability.

I’m not totally sure I understand exactly how Apple has done this on the Mac OS X system, but I believe that they’ve done something to keep Safari running, and just kick out the offending and interacting program (”code”) that attempts to modify or work with Safari.

I believe Apple can do that in the Mac OS X system, but I don’t believe that the Microsoft system has that capability.

So, it may very well be that the Safari program may appear to be having a lot more problems on the Microsoft system, because of that inability to kick out the offending code that interferes with the proper operation of Safari, using that Microsoft system...

Thanks for your comments and insight - you may be correct re" XP-Safari.

Downloaded the new version and, after ~ 1 hour, it seems faster and has not crashed...yet.

Crossing fingers & toes as safari is MUCH more user friendly than IE8.

This morning I downloaded the new Safari-4 (XP) and, after a solid day of constant use, it's been totally stable with zero crashes. Before, I experienced at ;least 2 each day - sometimes more. Speed is a bit faster, too so overall very pleased with the upgrade.

As an aside, the new version was slightly smaller than previous.
