StandforMarriageMaine.com is downplaying their achieved goal of obtaining enough signatures for the referendum in November in order to “collect[ing] additional signatures as insurance to meet the deadline to qualify” for November’s election.
I would say they need to double the signature number needed to offset the saboteurs who no doubt signed the petition being unqualified to do so, or to disclaim their support for the measure and claim fraud on the petition during an audit. This is a slimy tactic that the homo-fascists know can work, if they can “spoil” enough signatures in the petition to cast doubt on its veracity. StandforMarriageMaine has to overcome this real threat.
