“Three people were arrested Tuesday on charges that they endangered the welfare of a child by cutting her and making her watch animal sacrifices as part of a religious ritual.

The three suspects — the girl’s mother and two others who were not related — were arrested following execution of a search warrant at 230 Pacific St. in Paterson, where the ritual allegedly occurred on May 15. At the address, authorities say they found such items as dolls, a shrine, religious statues, artifacts, bones, machetes and bundles of sticks with numbers and names on them. Authorities also said there was residual blood and animal hair on some of the items.”

When I lived in Chicago in the 1980s, I used to walk past an old cemetery all the time. I saw headless chickens left at the cemetery gate more times than I could count.
