No doubt Lance and Alberto will have MORE THAN ONE shootout in the mountains.

Team riding and the peloton mean little when climbing at 12-15mph.

They both want the #1 spot on this team and they'll fight for it in the mountains.

This should be settled by stage 15...or not:)

It MOST CERTAINLY MUST be settled by stage 18 or so.

No rider is good enough to win on his own.

Question: Doesn’t the team manager pretty much designate who the #1 rider is?

I’ve followed a lot of Tours and I can’t remember a 2-headed Dragon approach ever working all that well. I expect that the manager will allow a rivalry, but after a few mountain stages he’ll put his foot down for the sake of the team. The #2 will have to wait for “The Word” to go for it if the #1 guy falters. This is why cycling, while interesting, can never be anything more than a curiousity to the average American sports fan.
