I have always admired Ethel.
She gave Robert 11 children and although a Democrat, she is strongly pro life, and she never engaged in any romantic relationships with another man following her husband’s death.
Citing her Catholicism, she had said she would never marry again.
That type of value system has been pretty much destroyed.
Sigh...
I remember hearing the story when JFK first brought Jackie home to meet the rest of the clan, Jackie said her name is pronounced Jackleen. To which Ethel retorted, “rhymes with queen.”
Ethel had her figured out from the getgo.
Is it against the Bible for Catholic widow’s to remarry?
As far as I'm aware, there is nothing in Roman Catholic doctrine that disallows a widow from marrying again -- the sacrament is "Until death do us part." Confused on this one.
