The article talks about degraded picture quality without specifics as to what types. Since the digital changeover, my reception from Bright House Cable here in Central Florida, encounters frequent ‘picture seizures’ requiring me to change channels and return to ‘unseize’ it.
Any other examples to look for?

Any other examples to look for? Occasionally you'll see blocks in the screen that are left over from the previous frame from the video. That's pixalization. I also get audio squelching when that happens too.

frequent picture seizures
Same thing with DirecTV.
How about the industry scam:
Sell wide-screen 16x9 TVs.
Provide basic cable or satellite TV with old standard 4x3 picture. Charge extra for 16x9 images while forcing you to continue to pay for 4x3 service. Make everyone look fat on new TVs unless you pay for the HD image.
4x3 and 16x9 are aspect ratios of the picture.
