Transformers Director Puts Megan Fox in Her Place (in the Wall Street Journal)
Hollyscoop ^ | July 2, 2009 | Bridget Daly

Megan Fox is becoming known not only for her ravishing looks, but for the controversial statements that come out of her mouth during interviews.

She’s come under fire for several statements she’s made in the last few weeks, including slamming Scarlett Johansson in Esquire for being “too smart.”

Her latest rant was about Michael Bay, the director for the Transformers franchise, which, by the way, put her on the map. Megan slammed Bay, saying he focuses too much on special effects, and not enough on acting.

Bay was quick to put Megan back in her place, telling the Wall Street Journal, "Well, that's Megan Fox for you. She says some very ridiculous things because she's 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing up to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, 'Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it.’”

Bay went on to defend his movies, saying, "I 100 percent disagree with her. Nick Cage wasn't a big actor when I cast him, nor was Ben Affleck. before I put him in Armageddon. Shia LaBeouf wasn't a big movie star before he did Transformers -- and then he exploded. Not to mention Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, from Bad Boys.”

As the interview went, it was clear Bay got a little agitated. He said, "Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in Transformers. I like to think that I've had some luck in building actors' careers with my films."

So true! Bay deserves a little respect! Why does Megan have to go around town burning all these bridges? If we were her, we’d be psyched that we were part of the biggest movie in the country right now.

I think she's just doesn't like Scarlett because she has photographed with US troops, honoring them rather than dissing them.

I had a disagreement today with a friend who loved “The Reader” but said he wouldn’t be interested in Beerfest. Megan Fox couldn’t win the audition for “Beerfest II”.

Wonder if Fox understands the difference between North and South Korea yet? Surely someone gave her a schooling on the subject.

This girl is going to learn real quick, pretty faces are a dime a dozen, particularly in Southern Cal. There are busloads of them arriving daily.

Sorry Megan, but your acting talent hasn’t gotten you anything, when you get cast in a successful run of a Shakespeare play on broadway then you can rave about your acting talent, until then, you are just another girl in tight clothing.

Michael Bay ... focuses too much on special effects, and not enough on acting.

Sometimes, as a director, you just do the best with what you've got.

Bay knows his audience... his target audience is pretty much teen to young guys... and what always sells to them? Big explosions, and sizable knockers.

I don’t think anyone has walked into any ANY Bay movie ever expecting to be wowed by acting and writing.

I agree. Anyone who can take drivel like Transformers and make it entertaining is talented in my book.

“Accusing Scarlett Johansson of being too smart... Uh, not fooling anyone.”

Anyone who thinks Scarlett Johansson is “too smart” is clearly dumber than mud.

LaBeouf has some acting talent. I haven’t seen him in this yet, so I can’t say how his performance is. He pretty much plays the same character over and over, which isn’t uncommon for actors these days.

Fox, on the other hand, has absolutely no acting talent at all. I’m not stretching when I say she has less acting talent than the average pornstar.

Except Michael Bay is wrong.

Nicholas Cage was an Oscar winner prior to Bay casting him.

Ben Affleck was an Oscar winner prior to Bay casting him.

Will Smith was a famous rapper and then had a hit tv show before Bay casted him.

Martin Lawrence had a hit TV show and was a stand-up comedian before Bay casted him.

Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox actually weren’t big names. But LaBeouf had several well regarded roles before Transformers.

Michael Bay is no great discoverer of talent. She is an idiot. This is a battle of mental midgets, but she is right.
