Pronounce “Willamette”, “Scappoose”, “Sequim”, “Hoquiam”, “Deschutes”, and “Tualatin” correctly, and I’ll know you’re from the PNW.

Sequim is pronounced “skwim”
Hoquiam is pronounced “ho - kwee - um” emphasis on the first syllable.
Some locals pronounce Hoquiam “ho - kee - um”, emphasis still on first syllable.

Well, for someone who grew up in Copalis (koh-pale-iss) Crossing, which is near Humptulips (Hump-too-lips) and Quinault (Kwin-alt), went to school in Hoquiam (Hoe-kwee-um), visited Sequim (Skwimm) many times, and now lives in Puyallup (Pew-all-up), I hereby declare myself the expert in such matters of pronunciation. LOL!!!
BTW, I don't believe I have purchased any fireworks yet. Might be time to go lookin' for some....LOL!!!
