One obvious solution: end farm subsidies which artificially make fattening foods (high fructose corn syrup, corn-based breading, soybean oil, fatty meats) cheaper than healthy food (fruits, veggies, grass fed meats). It’s a simple market distortion

I couldn’t agree more. I’m certainly no health nut...but it is almost impossible to go for one whole day without eating corn syrup. Many of our ‘foods’ are just different flavors and textures of corn syrup: jelly, mayo, peanut butter, bread, frozen foods, ‘fruit’ drinks, breakfast cereal, some meats...the list is endless.
Don’t forget the other part of the equation: the protectionist sugar tariff. Remember when soda was considered bad for you, because it had sugar in it?...now putting sugar back in would be a massive improvement.
I blame the primary system we have, which puts such an emphasis on Iowa...the corn subsidy is truly insane.
