you gotta love the Irish!

I had forgotten about 'shanty irish' --- also, another putdown is 'tinkers'.

LOL!! I heard that one in Ireland from the proprietor of the last Bed'n'Breakfast that still had a room open on New Year's Even when we blew into town -- a Lysol special! She didn't want to be thought of as a tinker....

Tinkers in Ireland were a gypsy-like group of poor white nomads who lived in wagons and roamed from town to town sharpening knives, selling goods stolen from other locations, etc. Lots of stories about the tinkers....
