Nixon invaded Cambodia (with somewhat dubious results) but he also bombed the North in Operation Linebacker and mined Haiphong harbor, both of which had a real impact on the North and brought them back to the bargaining table in Paris.
Yeah, his “thinking out of the box” was what showed his willingness to win. We knew the Cong was using Laos and Cambodia for supplies and maneuvering, but he was willing to do what it took to win. The weenie Dems would scream like a girl and go into the fetal position everytime we would do something to try and beat the commies. I was raised as a Dem, but my first vote ever was for Nixon. I could see The Dems were anti American and pro commie. I have NEVER voted for a Dem in my entire 58 years. My disgust comes from watching Humphrey, McGovern, Kerry, Kennedy, Fonda, and about a hundred others while I was growing up. Their disdain for America drooled out of their pie holes everytime they opened it up.
You should try this out sometime, Tell someone you would STILL vote for Nixon rather than that commie lovin McGovern even today. Watch their faces. They may stop breathing. Just like now, I would still vote for Bush rather than Kerry or AlGore even after the prescription mess and the amnesty plan. I could probably find another dozen things I don't like about Bush, but he's head and shoulders above the others and sure enough what we have now.
