Gotta love Chandler, tho’ the greatest crime novelist of all time he ain’t. That distinction goes to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, closely followed by Leslie Charteris. Chandler gets a close third.

Love Conan Doyle, but he simply wasn't a novelist. The Holmes oeuvre is comprised of 56 short stories and 4 novellas.

Dashiell Hammett. he actually worked for Pinkerton and was an amazing stylist.
