That's what I thought of Billy May's death. All of these well known people dying in such quick succession. I wouldn't be surprised to hear of another famous person's death tomorrow (hope I don't of course).
So how long did you think before deciding to post that vile comment? You should have more respect for a person who's just died.
So are The Clintoons, so is Jimmah Carter, so is Michael Mooron and Rosie O’Donut.
As Billy Joel sang............only the good die young
RIP.
They were modern day Mr. Merdles.
“If I were to base my admiration upon people who were made successful by the free market, I would have to admire such heros as Bernie Madoff and Ken Lay.”
Yeah, I guess it’s a little hard telling the difference between the 3 of them.
Ron Popeil is still alive?
A testimony to the preserving ability of alcohol.
“Kaboom” and he’s gone!
I had become addicted to the Pitchmen show detailing his work and how he made dreams come true for inventors who had products worth putting on TV.
What amazed me most was their “demos” for infomercials were real, with precautions, but real. It wasn’t fake.
I HATED his shouting, but obviously it got results.
The show revealed the human side to the man, and I am in shock here.
How sad.
Exactly.
He doesn’t sell crap, and that is what surprised me. I just thought he would sell anything, but they do lots of field testing.
May have hated his voice, but doesn’t make him a bad guy. He loved what he did.
I have been reading his son’s posts on twitter.....heartbreaking.
He worked his butt off to get where he was. I admire him even though I didn’t like the pitch style.
He worked with Billy quite a bit and the two were featured on the Pitchmen show on the discovery channel lately.
I heard about this last night and was shocked. I can’t imagine how Anthony Sullivan feels....they may have joshed each other, but you could tell they were friends.
I hope they do a couple days of marathons.
Anthony Sullivan statement.......really eloquent:
“Anthony “Sully” Sullivan, longtime infomercial pitchman and co-host of “Pitchmen” released the following statement on the passing of his dear friend and colleague:
There are no words to describe how I feel about the passing of my great friend and fellow Pitchman Billy Mays. I have a massive hole in my heart. My thoughts go out to his wife, Deborah, son Billy III, and his beautiful daughter, Elizabeth, his mom and dad and his whole family.
Billy and I have known each other for 15 years. We are the greatest of friends. He was the best at what he did — his uncompromising style coupled with his black beard, blue shirt and khaki pants will be embedded in my memory for all time. His uniqueness created an industry that I am proud to be a part of. We were literally joined at the hip for the past six months.
Discovery Channel’s “Pitchmen” was not only a wonderful experience, but also a great opportunity for Billy and I to let people into our world and see what an awesome guy he was in front of the cameras and show our friendship to the world.
There was a lot more to Billy as a person than Billy the Pitchman — he was a loving, caring family man with the heart and roar of a lion. He loved what he did and loved his fans. The overwhelming outpouring of support shows what an amazing individual Billy was.
I’m proud to have had him as a friend. I’ll miss him greatly and I’ll miss hearing him saying, “Hi Billy Mays here... Here’s how to order!”
You mean, Hianthony Sullivan, don’t you?
