A jilted Long Island woman was arrested and charged after police say she broke into her estranged husband's waterfront mansion and attempted to start a fire.

Nassau County police say Esther Hershko, 49, was arrested early Wednesday after she illegally entered her husband's Hewlett Bay Park home and poured charcoal lighter fluid throughout the house while 5 people slept inside.

Esther tried to use a 5 month old baby as a firestarter. Bad lady.

Sad story. Her kids will probably never talk to her again.

Since the kids were with the Dad, she may have done something to alienate her whole family. I’m not saying the husband wasn’t a jerk, who knows? I think he at least had a moral obligation to ensure as normal as possible relationship between his ex-wife and her kids.

Bishop Sheen used to say that the most important thing a man could do for kids was be a good husband to their mother.

I'm going to guess it was drugs, alcohol abuse, psychotic behavior, or a combination of all three. In the current legal climate, a woman would be able to file for divorce and get the kids, the house, and the assets.

A normal relationship with a woman who would try to incinerate those children? I'm going to doubt this.

If she wanted to distroy her husband’s waterfront mansion she should have just sneek up the house and turn the gas off wait until the pilot lights go out and turn gas back on.Only if nobody was in house.

This girl could not hold a candle to Lisa ‘left-eye’ Lopez. She knew how to torch a home.

I said as normal as possible. His behavior may have aggrevated whatever underlying mental problems she had. I have no way of knowing.

Nothing can ever excuse her behavior and like I said, her kids will never want to talk to her again.

Or as her divorce lawyer would say, "being married to him would drive any woman to drink, drugs and psychosis."

Maybe she likes her tinfoil quilted.

I would say they have had her in the hospital for observation and are moving her to another, more secure perhaps, location. Looks like a hospital gown to me, I could be wrong of course(happens now and then, even to me!)

Gee, why would he have rejected a nice girl like that? She sounds like such a honey.< /s>

At least he can go into bars and earn money by betting strangers that his ex-wife is worse than theirs.

Poor kids, to have such a mother. I hope they will heal with their father’s love.
