There’s roughly a twelve-year period that he burned through the charts and owned Rock. Then, the guy simply lost the charm and the passion. His relative sponged off his money. His business associates rigged deals to make money off him. And he continued to spend money like there was no limit. He had zero understanding of economics or control over spending.

As you look at Elvis...his mega empire continued on after he died and covered the expenses of his wife and daughter easily. The real King? Still goes back to Elvis in the end.

Hmmmmm...It's my understanding the the Elvis estate, upon his death, was not in good financial shape. Only through the involvement and direction/management by Priscilla Presley did it become the present money maker.

And if you look at Jackson, you see a guy who owns half the Beatles catalog, among other assets. With Jackson's gargantuan spending at an end, his estate will be able to provide far more for his children than Elvis' estate ever did for his. My guess is that they'll spend a significant portion of it on psychiatry bills, but that's another issue.

Actually, Elvis at his death was close to bankruptcy. It was Prisilla who with financial advisors, turned that estate around. One of the reasons why they opened Graceland to the public. She cleaned house!

Now, the estate is well in the black and Lisa Marie is running the show.
