Research and get the phone that does what you want it to. I chose the HTC because it uses Windows Mobile, comes with MS Office, and I can completely reprogram it thanks to the XDA Developers website. This means that I do not have junk like ATT Media Mall, ATT Navigator (Google Maps/Live Search/ and some free GPS programs do the same thing without the cost), Bluetooth PAN to connect my netbook, and it integrates easily with my computer(s). I also prefer to have the option to use the physical keyboard instead of the touchscreen one at times.
But you need to get the phone that works for you and fills your needs. That website that I referred to in the review links is a good place to start.

I know your deafness, but didn't know whether you had aides to help in telephone use or not. So I figured I'd ping anyway...
