Those are some scary thoughts, but not unthinkable. You’re right about the media trivializing the tea parties. I went to one on April 15, in Laguna Beach, CA. I was amazed by how many people showed up for such a tiny town, population 24,000, and how many more people in cars yelled and beeped their support. The next day it was barely mentioned in their online newspaper. (We don’t live there - were just vacationing.) So that part was disappointing.
I hope you’re wrong about the cap and trade bill. You know, with Warren Buffett stating that our economy is in miserable condition and 627,000 MORE being out of work this month, it would be nice to think there was some common sense in our government and that the biggest tax on America wouldn’t pass. Our country is being run by lunatics. There’s no other explanation.
As far as protests go, America isn’t Iran, but all it would take would be for an idiot policeman to lose his cool, fire a gun, the crowd gets scared and stampedes, and then the rest of the LE begins firing guns/tear gas out of fear. OTOH, more Americans than ever have CCW permits, so who knows what would ultimately happen.
And that would be the state run media talking point.
Further demonizing conservatives, just like they did in Germany.
I don't worry about local or state PD judging by my little corner of the world. My fear is agitators like sissy's from HuffPo, or any other Hussein worshiping group inciting some reaction from a peaceful protest. I've witnessed the power of the Hussein socialist army of zombies on the internet and I can just see their hateful, anti-American venom used to start something that they perceive as a holy war against our constitution, veterans, and anyone who cherishes our way of life and the roots of what made us a great nation.
