The hysteria is a repeat of the reaction to the death of Elvis Presley. Get ready for the Michael Jackson impersonators to follow in the footsteps of the Elvis impersonators of the 1970s.
I was never an Elvis fan, but at least he had a mature voice, and some of his recordings are worth listening too. His early ones at any rate. However what is worth remembering about Jackson's musical output? Importance based on amount of records sold holds no currency with me considering the millions of rap and other garbage records sold. I guess his stage show was alright (for people who like that sort of thing), but his musical "legacy" was mostly aimed at pre-teen and early adolescents and is mostly forgettable.
