The fact that Sanford is vulnerable to thinking with his penis is not surprising of unusual.
The fact that he did it under the circumstances of his life are outrageous enough to disqualify him from a leadership position.

Very well put. To use “love” as an excuse to betray those who trust you the most, shows a low, self-indulgent character that doesn’t belong in any position of trust or leadership.
What makes you think the penis made the decision? Maybe Jenny Sanford is a total b-i-itch and he was so sick of putting up with her crap to the point that he didn't care anymore. Maybe even, she was the kind of "loving wife" that continually accuses her husband of cheating so he decided one day, why the hell not? She already thinks I am, I might as well have something to feel guilty about? There could be a hundred things wrong with her that we wouldn't know about. Just sayin', people learn how to play roles. And public figures learn to play their roles even better.
It is my opinion based on divorced and separated couples that I have known (as well as a couple in our neighborhood in which the wife has gone astray), that most married men AND women cheat because there is something wrong with their marriage. Not because they see an opportunity to get away with something. I can just as easily propose that Jenny Sanford is that nagging witch of a wife that has learned her role particularly well and if she really was that wonderful a wife and partner, he wouldn't have seen a need to do the horizontal rumba with this South American cutie pie.
