I think the active dislike comes from the past thirty or more years of being told that soccer is the world sport and we must fall in line. It's like the metric system in that way. No one has an active dislike for team handball because we haven't been told "YOU MUST LOVE HANDBALL. IT IS THE BEST SPORT IN THE WORLD AND IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN LIFE ITSELF. LOVE HANDBALL!!!!" (yes, the shouting is a parody of soccer fanatics)
