SUMTER, S.C. -- A suspect is in custody in connection with last week's shooting death of a man who became famous in 1988 as the first one to report a sighting of the legendary Lizard Man.
Lakiem Davar Butler, 19, turned himself in to police in connection with Wednesday's fatal shooting.
Officials said 37-year-old Christopher Davis was killed in his home in an apparent drug-related incident.
Davis became an international celebrity at the age of 16 when he reported the first sighting of the legendary Lizard Man, a big-eyed swamp creature.
Authorities never figured out what prompted the reports.
