>>Michael Costigan, Ridley Scott and even Tony Scott are all on board to produce and have tapped Carl Rinsch to get beyond the camera and bring a new Ripley to the big screen.

Who is Carl Rinsch? I'm being told he's a commercial/music video director and does work for Scott Free Productions, who is also producing the remake.

In the original, the terror begins when the crew of a spaceship investigates a transmission from a desolate planet, and discovers a life form that is perfectly evolved to annihilate mankind. One by one, each crew member is slain until only Ripley is left,<<

They have greenlighted a remake of sorts of PREDATOR, now they greenlighting a remake of its' predecessor. No Alien no Predator.

I wonder if this is going to be a verbatim remake with new cast and new SPFX, or are they going to change the story significantly? The book version of the original screenplay by Dan Obannon for Alien was different than the movie version(Ridley Scott made changes). The very first screenplay was 'Star Beast' and was much more modest.

Before that he wrote a short screenplay called GREMLINS, that made its' way into the HEAVY METAL(1981) movie as a segment called 'B-29 Crew' - - I think~~

I also understand they are remaking Red Dawn. This time it's the red Chinese that invade. But you watch, it's going to be our fault some how.

The "Predator" movies are bunk: no organism that has only heat-sensing eyes could ever develop a technological civilization. In their natural states, wood and metals are cold, and therefore would be almost completely invisible to the organism's eyes (certainly all close details would escape scrutiny). Sheesh, Schwarzenegger just rubbed some mud on himself and the Predator couldn't see him.

Oh, yeah. What if they made their space ships out of heat lamps and sauna benchs! ;oP

As a science fiction film, I thought the first Alien was near perfect. Why remake it? (Yes, I know, to make money).

They already made a IV: Alien Resurrection. We'd be on the fifth Alien now, unless you count the Alien vs. Predator idiocies, in which case we'd be on number VII.

I believe part of the problem is that this “new” generation of Hollywood mogul has absolutely NO imagination.

The heat-sensing vision was from the helmet. Predator’s natural vision was different.
When Predator removed it’s mask to go hand-to-hand against Ahnold...

I also understand they are remaking Red Dawn.

This time it's a documentary about the 2008 election.

Last I remember, Scott was going to make a prequal. Before the Nostromo lands on LV-426.

Not a problem 30 years ago.

Don’t need to see Sigourney’s “grandma panties” now.

First of all, you can't throw the BS flag on any movie that rests on the concept of space aliens. Second, the lack of a radiation belt on their planet has resulted in everything giving off higher concentrations of IR light.
