Thanks for the heads up.
Self Reliant/Survivalist ping list
But I’ll bet your winter months are absolutely sublime compared to mine, LOL! :)
“Sounds reasonable to me - I like marshmallows that are dry and tough far better than soft and gooey.”
When Easter comes around, do you buy your marshmallow ‘Peeps’ as soon as they put them on the shelf, cut open the packaging and then let them ‘age’ on the counter until they’re nice and crispy/chewy?
Boo-Yah! :)
The Army tested a bunch of antibiotics and painkillers, etc. that had been in storage for over a decade and found them all to be still good.
Even though most prescriptions and OTC stuff will say to not use it after a year, well, believe what you must!
I've had more than one doctor tell me that many medicines can be used easily up to three years past their expiration dates.
lol
pays to shop.
I get hard red wheat at the Natural food section of our local Safeway (50 lb bag) for $15.
Step Two: eat that which has caused your eventual demise
looks like it .... that 62$ place is raping you.
Lean times and a victory garden... I remember our Memere cooking up swiss chard for dinner and we all swore she picked up the leaves in the backyard and tried to feed it to us!
I still have three of them, one on each keyring. I've repaired lamps, PC’s , Cleaned fingernails, pried off stubborn lids, I would marvel at what McGiver (sp?) could have done with one. Ooops... have also opened a lot of bean and weenies as well. Disinfected it??? Not a chance that is unless you call residing in sweaty Jean's front pocketdisinfectant.
Best invention ever, next to the pop top can and adult beverage coolers.
I still remember a 2 week diet of sea rats ...... actually “rat” might have been better.

MREs have their own special place in hell, that’s for sure. It’s amazing how they can pack 3,000+ calories into food that was pretty much inedible.
The biggest insult was that the chocolate bars (if you were lucky enough to score one) tasted like wax.
That was unforgivable abuse of us troops! ;)
The local grocery store used to put out past sale date food on pallets in the parking lot. It wasn’t that it was rotten but that they couldn’t sale it after the date. They would put it out neatly and everyone would come by and pick up anything they wanted for free. They had to stop that about 15 years ago so now it’s all trashed. They did continue to donate bread to various elderly housing but there was so much that the housing would leave grocery baskets of bread outside so anyone could take it home. But sadly, I don’t think that can be done anymore either. It’s all such a waste. A few years ago I couldn’t get stuff for the goats because everything had to be dumped in such a way it wasn’t even fit for animals to discourage people from eating it.
I remember back when I was in school and for several years after, the government had a food program for the school and the elderly for peanut butter, butter, and cheese. Every day for lunch we had a spoonful of peanut butter on our tray and usually the most wonderful fresh homemade peanut butter cookies. Many times they’d mix honey with the peanut butter to go on their fresh baked hot rolls which was to die for, yum! Back then our lunchroom ladies were moms and grandmas who made almost everything from scratch. The elderly program was for low income but there was always extra which was given out to any elderly. That was the best cheese in the world!
That’s good to know. I usually trash medicines 6 mos. after the date and cringe because they’re so expensive and if they’re prescriptions you know you’ll never be able to get them again unless you pay for a doctor’s visit.
Hate to tell y’all but nuts have oil in them that will go rancid if left at room temperature. They are best kept in the freezer.
LOL!
Never buy Peeps. I do, on occaision, search the cupboards for long lost, half empty bags of Jet Puffed goodness . . .

We were pretty poor when I was a little kid; Dad was in college, Mom worked, we lived with her folks...it was all part of the plan to get OUT of poverty and OUT of Milwaukee, WI.
That ‘Free Government Cheese’ was used in many a meal back then. Grandma made the BEST homemade mac-n-cheese or grilled cheese sandwiches with that free cheese. :)
