I always tell people to disconnect the printer physically from the PC, restart and uninstall ALL printer software and then make sure NO printers are listed under “Fax and Printers”. Shutdown and start over as if you just took the printer out of the box.

"I did and it didnt work."Hmmmmm. That almost always fixes a 'spooler not running' message.
Go into this directory, and delete everything in it:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS\
Then reboot.

"Ill also ditto KoRu on this as a possible fix as well."That apparently didn't work. I was almost sure it would. I advised to go in and manually delete the *.SPL files then reboot.

Obama’s decided you don’t need to be printing and wasting resources.

(System Restore)
That’s what I was going to say...it worked for me by selecting a different restore date.

Obamas decided you dont need to be printing and wasting resources. Thought that might be the problem.

I want to say “thank you”. I followed the instructions of several you but to no avail. Then every time I rebooted my computer became slower and slower. Dial up service was faster than the satellite service I was using. Something was really wrong. I unplugged the computer and took it to a repair shop. Hopefully, the technician will find the problem and my printers. Again, thank you so much.

Bummer. If I were looking at it, and the problem wasn’t a virus, I’d start thinkng you have a dying motherboard.

Good luck.
I hope they don’t charge you a fortune. I often work on computers on the side, and typically charge 25% of what a computer shop bills people. It probably would have been cheaper for you to mail it to me LOL, but I hope not.

Since it was the office computer and I’m the treasurer, the office will pickup the bill. :)

Ummm, isnt it a bad idea to run Windows XP without SP3 installed?
______________
I don’t think so. I have it on one of mine. All of the computers at the office and the other 4 at my home do not have it. They all have the same anti virus, spyware software etc. Oddly the computer with SP3 seems to block more spyware attacks. The less Microsoft update crap the better. Dell gold tech doesn’t even advise you install it. They have tons of calls regarding issues with SP3.

Sounds like a virus.
Hope u get it squared.
But seriously think about a mac.
The OS is much more robust & does not require nearly the tinkering that MSFT does.
Mac Minis are quite reasonable these days w/ video capabilities.
