LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) Officials at a New Mexico animal shelter say they'll euthanize more than 50 dogs and puppies this week to make room for 12 pit bulls from an unresolved dog fighting case.
...
Because of their aggressive nature, the pit bulls will be placed in one cage apiece in spaces that usually house two or more dogs.

A$$ backwards. Euthanize the pitbulls instead of gassing adoptable pets.
Agreed. Even if they are “evidence”.
Poor pups. None of them deserves this.
Of course, PETA has nothing else better to do than protect a fly....
I have a better idea. Kill all the pitbulls and let the non-born-to-kill animals live.
Or protect dead fish :(
Agreed.

And kill pets:

Hyporcisy Ping! ;-)
I hope these Michael Vick types are burdened with the cost of euthanizating adoptable pets.
Yes, they should all be placed in loving homes. (s)
Sorry, but they need to be put down before they hurt or kill someone.
I adopted a German Shepard Lab mix last summer. It was so sad to see all the pitbulls at the shelter knowing they had little chance of being adopted.
IMO, the Michael Vick types should be euthanized along with their dogs.
How classy that the Falcons terminated his contract! Did he get the money, or was he in violation and therefore denied?
As evidence in a trial they can not be placed for adoption or euthanized. They must be sheltered until the trial’s end and then final disposition can be made. If the defendant in the trial is cleared, the dogs go back to him/her. If the defendant is found guilty, then the dogs can be placed for adoption or euthanized.
Right now those dogs are evidence.
I heard one of the dogs in the Micheal Vick case went to live at a children’s home.
Yet to see how that works out.
I’m getting the impression that a pit bull once barked at a certain freeper and forever altered his life...
The two brothers who owned the dogs sound like real losers: in addition to the indications of animal abuse, each brother has filed a lawsuit claiming discrimination.

One set of misunderstanding circumstances is possible, but three separate ones? sounds more like the guys are losers.
