Dingoes 'could help rare species'

Re-introducing dingoes across tracts of Australia could have benefits for wildlife and possibly cattle farmers. Researchers found that dingoes suppress populations of kangaroos and red foxes, which are big consumers of vegetation and small mammals respectively. Writing in the Royal Society's journal Proceedings B, they say the benefits of dingoes outweigh concerns over their presence as an "alien predator".

The wild dogs were brought to Australia about 5,000 years ago. Their appetite for sheep means they have been expelled from large swathes of the country, notably the productive farmlands of New South Wales and Victoria, where a "dingo fence" more than 5,000km long has been erected to keep the predators out.

Who brought Dingos to Australia in 2991bc and how do we know that?

Sorry, my bad. Thought I'd left the pair home, but they snuck out and got on my boat. I was just passing through, you realize. I didn't think that they'd swim ashore . . .

With age comes wisdom so I guess you won’t do it again seeing as how you are 5000+ years old.

I just met a Red Heeler a few days ago. She is a lovely, gentle, and friendly dog!

Mine is as sweet as can be but her white undercoat is blowing now and I leave the house looking like (Addams Family) Cousin It.

If I give her the wrong treat at the wrong time by accident, she throws it on the floor and walks over to the correct treat box. She will take carry of me once Altzhiemers sets in.
