Isn’t there a verb in Spanish that means “to eat flies” as in to be astonished? I remember learning it but I disremembered it.

nothing is coming to mind. Moscas are flies, come moscas would be to eat flies. does that jog anything for ya?

I checked all my dictionaries and can't find it, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. I know I have some sunglasses, too.

Tener buenas tragaderas, To have "good gullets" is to be gullible. That begs the question of the relationship between "gullet" and "gullible" but that hunt was fruitless also. Oh, well.
