The Lakers win their 15th organizational title, and 10th in Los Angeles, in their 30th Finals appearance. They defeat the Orlando Magic, 99-86 in Game 5, and win the series 4 games to 1.
Kobe Bryant was named MVP of the Finals.
Could not have said it better my self.
Those of us from the Pittsburgh area don’t particularly care about the NBA;-)
One thing for sure - Kobe has come a long way from that rookie that was hoisting up air balls in the playoffs against the Jazz.
Yeah, as much as I DESPISE the Lakers, & wanted them to be blown out vs. Orlando, Derek Fisher is a class act w/ a LOT of heart. I hafta admit that I am a lil bit biased due to his being a fellow Arkansawyer, & also from Little Rock @ that...but he has shown himself to be a great man many times over.
Remember last yr’s playoffs when he flew in directly from NYC (I think it was???) & entered the game @ Utah? His baby girl was hospitalized for cancer or something severe & he requested a trade to LA ‘cuz he thought the best medical care for her needs were in LA.
It’s great when good things happen to good people.
Finally...a comment about basketball!
A few plays, here and there...Orlando has a five point lead AND THE BALL with :54 seconds in Game 4, was in the bonus super early in the 4th...missed free throws, bad defense...there it is.
The coach that says "experience doesn't matter", as did the Master of Panic, is usually the losing coach. And so it is.
you mean the ‘pittsburgh pythons’ are not your favorites?!?
I will tell you this - I was screaming for joy when your Penguins beat the Red Wings, though I am an Angeleno, and a Kings fan (talk about longsuffering)...I absolutely LOATHE the Red Wings, and to see them get punked at home in Game 7, was absolutely EPIC!!!
As your announcer Mike Lange would say, Fleury should have got five to ten for robbing the Wings on that last save!
The Lakers were hungry from losing the year before,The Magic were just happy to be in the show. The Magic are a young team.I hope they learn from this.
Its great when good things happen to good people.
Two years ago, right before he came back to L.A., but points taken. It was a great moment, and good for a character guy.
Yep. They just didn't come out and play like champions. With the game on the line, champions make layups. With the game on the line, champions make free throws. Champions don't go out of their way to turn the ball over. Champions break a sweat. Tonight I noticed few Magic players broke a sweat.
Lakers fans ripping out trees and throwing them into the fire. Police trying to disperse crowd.
I’m sorry...ny mistake. Thanx for correcting me.
No matter what Kobe does on court in the coming years, he will never eclipse Michael Jordan. The one thing Michael had that Kobe will never have is the ability to consistently sell out arenas for away games.
HELL YEAH..NBA CHAMPS BABY!! DAVID STERN CAN SUCK IT..FEELS GREAT..Been waiting a long time for this moment. Let’s savor the moment. GO LAKERS!!
Another reason to be a proud Pittsburgh Penguins fan!
Crowd breaking up. Looks like the riot is postponed until the parade day.
LOL! Gotta pace themselves! Plenty of stores to loot in the morning ...
Got a link???
Oh, uh, they are attacking police car.
