Good for the EMT lead to step up and defend his guy. The HP trooper was a total tool.

I think the trooper will be lucky to just get fired on this one, as the patient in the ambulance, as well as the EMTs have a great case against him.

The trooper seems to have anger management issues. He will lose.

he was pissed because the ambulance didn’t pull over and he had to pass by going into the oncoming lane? like the rest of us?

meanwhile, the move slowed him down... maybe 2 seconds. and he was on scene for less then 30 seconds before leaving. the ambulance, with a patient enroute to a hospital, was delayed for 5+ minutes.

where’s the problem again? if anything, the cop was the problem, not the ambulance driver

The patient in the ambulance could have died, if it was something serious, while that state trooper was fiddling around with the ambulance driver and other ambulance guy in the back...

These cops are crazy sometimes, from what I’ve seen from time to time. They must hire crazies or something...

Having spent 10-years as a high-school football referee, I learned that a very important ability is to not let situations escalate in volatility. While the trooper was correct in chewing out the ambulance driver for not yielding, he allowed the entire situation to ratchet up to where he backed himself into a no-win position. He should have told everyone to get back in the ambulance and followed it to the medical facility and then did whatever it was he was going to do...he used poor judgement.

Well, I watched it two or three times.

The trooper comes up behind the ambulance and the car in front of the ambulance pulls over, probably hearing the siren and thinking it was from the ambulance, after that the ambulance did pull over.Probably when he heard the siren. The cop went by and went to his “emergency.
The video doesnt show any hand gesture, but the officer was in a belligerent mood and shoving his badge down these folks throat.

An office comes to me and says he isnt aking any shit , and he wil get me wound up quick too. The officer instigated the belligerence.

I saw the video, and the driver did yield the cop. I do not know about the alleged hand signal, but it is obvious the cop is a hot-head who should be diciplined, maybe even fired? If a hand signal is enough to cause you to blow up, then you do not deserve to be on the police force.

What got me was that it was a very slight delay in passing the ambulance. Too, when he got on scene, it didn’t appear that he even exited his vehicle, and pursued the ambulance as soon as it passed by.

I’ve met a few Oklahoma Highway Patrolmen, most via traffic checks, one when my car broke down on the Indian Nation Turnpike. All were as professional and courteous as can be, and definitely orders above most other law enforcement personnel I’ve encountered. In the case of my stranded auto, the trooper gave me a ride into town and he was friendly and talkative on the way. A very nice guy. I can’t imagine this trooper being either representative or deserving of the job.

What is with some cops today? He was running "hot", over 100 MPH in my estimation (and yes, I'm familiar with that speed), comes up on an ambulance, makes his pass, then chases down the ambulance. Where was the big emergency that had him driving at that speed in the first place? Were the donuts getting cold?

His total disregard for the patient in the ambulance and the paramedic profession is outragous. This man needs to turn in his badge.

"The patrol said the move is contrary to what the agency normally does but decided to release the video because of the high level of public interest and the fact that the release "would not affect the administrative review” of the patrol’s investigation of the incident, according to a statement released late Friday. "

IOW, the OHP has completed their review and what's shown on the camera isn't going to change anything - the Trooper is about to become a former trooper.

Just curious.....why wouldn’t the ambulance have it’s lights and sirens going with a patient on board?

Major ego trip...major anger attitude...major idiot since he had no knowledge of patient condition who could have been dying for all he knew.

The family and friends following the ambulance to the hospital did a swell job of maintaining self control while the rabid madman ranted about how self important and powerful he is...All the while the patient lay inside awaiting medical treatment.

Any raving rabid dog like this one is obviously unfit for duty. Reverse the situtation, and put his wife, daughter or mother, in the back of that ambulance. Would he have behaved the same? If the answer is no, then he is unfit.

OHP needs to fire an officer and the county needs to get a new DA. Publicly stating I’d be proud to have EMT Maurice White stand up for me. We should stand up for him.
