scored two second-period goals, and the Pittsburgh Penguins overcame the loss of captain Sidney Crosby(notes) and a whole lot of history to beat the defending champion Detroit Red Wings 2-1 on Friday night in Game 7 and win the Stanley Cup for the third time.
Instead of the Red Wings becoming the NHLs first repeat champion

If Detroit put Obama in as goalie, they would have won.
don’t like Pittsburgh, but I’m glad Detroit lost
WOW If I was a Detroit fan, I wouldn’t be gracious either. First they lose GM/Chrysler plants to Obama, then they lose the Stanley Cup to the team from the same town that Obama rooted for in the Super Bowl! How horrible!
“Instead of the Red Wings becoming the NHLs first repeat champion”
Don’t know who wrote this but its as wrong as wrong could be.
Way to go PENS!!!! Congratulations on a great year and an exciting finish!!!
Looks like it was ok in the article, the sentence was cut off here.
It was a helluva game to watch sober. I didnt think we would pull it out.The Pentagon should rename the Anti Missle system Marc Andre Fluery because he blocks just about every shot.
Eat This Detroit.......
Had to get an anti Steeler shot in didnt ya. the Rooneys may have been in the Obama Glory hole, but a lot of the fans werent. SO EAT THIS BUDDY......
Congrats, Pens. Good serious....
Great game!
See yunz all Monday!

OHHHHHHH, YEAAAAHHHHHHH!!!
Eat that, Detroit!
Never would. I LOVE the Steelers. All the way back to the Noll/Bradshaw/Harris/Swann/Greene/Lambert days.
I was raised a Dolphins fan, and Danny Marino was my childhood hero. I would never punk Pittsburgh ;)
I love hockey. I’m from Minnesota. It’s almost like an official state sport here.
But truthfully, I really didn’t care if either team won. The Red Wings don’t do it for me and I’m sick of this “Sid The Kid” idol worship.
I didn’t watch any of the games in the Finals this year. Hopefully next year, we can see some new teams playing in the Finals rather than the Dead Wings and the Pencildicks.
I had a hard time when Dan Rooney thanked Obama before he thanked his team after the Super Bowl. Like Obama was the 12th man on the field or threw the winning touch down. I predicted that Rooney was sucking up to BO for a job as Irish Envoy.....
But as great as the Steelers and the Penquins are, Pittsburgh is still cursed with the Pirates.
PS...I thought Marino was a better QB than Bradshaw...But dont tell anyone here....
Sid the Kid is a great player, but I am glad Malkin won MVP.Since he only knows 20 word of english, the interviews are going to be a blast.
Me too! The one place I don’t want to see politics played is during major sports events, even if I DID like the President. I think it’s out of place.
Hey Hossa, how’d that trade work out for you?? Heh!!!
GO PENS!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
