...my family had little of monetary value before the war and even less after-wards, as we were poor AmerIndians BUT we understand that we lost most of our LIBERTY & have NOT recovered it.

The money was not the object, the land and the freedom to live/prosper that land conveyed was. The land was the means of production of sustennance and wealth. Nor has the liberty our ancestors fought for and lost been restored or sustained by those who claim to be liberators.

In the county I grew up in, four people admitted voting for Lincoln. They were asked to leave.
