Poor Adrian must be smoking crack.System 7 is NT with this years shade of lipstick.
Mac OS X 10.6 is BSD Unix at its core
not some cobbled together single
user system with more patches than base code.
And Win 3.1 was just a gui on DOS 5. But a stable usable and friendly GUI make a damn big difference and adds functionality.
Poor Adrian must be smoking crack. System 7 is NT with this years shade of lipstick. You don't know what you're talking about. NT is based on VMS which was a very nice multiuser system. In fact they stole quite of bit of it and had to pay for it.Mac OS X 10.6 is BSD Unix at its core not some cobbled together single user system with more patches than base code.
And OSX is *not* BSD Unix. It's Mach with BSD compatibility built in. Before you start kicking and screaming realize that Windows contains quite a bit of BSD code as well.
I use OSX as my day to day system, but all the FUD and ignorance around here is pathetic.
That was always my understanding....
Been looking at OpenSolaris as a way to get to a more bulletproof foundation...but I don't have anything close to real developer skills....just doing downloads and playing a JQ Public Joe doing a simple minded install and very slight tweaking.
I keep taking a crack at PC BSD but have trouble with various X11 windows ....wide screen resolution,..KVM switch...
Mostly just entertaining myself.
