I think he thinks he can still pitch at this level.

He gave up a bunch of hits last night in a Low A start.

Here is the hometown article:

Rome Gets Six Shutout Frames From Glavine in 3-0 Win
06/02/2009 9:26 PM ET
By Eric Little / Augusta GreenJackets

Facing their second future Hall-of-Famer in a three-week span, the Augusta GreenJackets fell 3-0 to the Rome Braves behind six shutout innings of three-hit ball from Tom Glavine, the major league’s winningest active pitcher. The GreenJackets were shutout for the second night in a row and just the third time this season.

Glavine gave up a first inning double by Ben Woodbury and a pair of hits in the second inning. The Jackets had runners at first and second thanks to a hit and a Rome error with two outs in the second when Vladimir Frias singled to right in one of the night’s turning points. James Simmons was trying to score from second but was thrown out at the plate by Luis Sumoza to preserve what was a 1-0 Rome lead for Glavine, who went on to retire the final 12 hitters he faced in his six innings.

Rome cracked the board in the first inning on a wild pitch to score Jahdiel Santamaria, who doubled to begin the inning. Paul Oseguera did not have the strikeout punch he’s been known for in the early going but finally found a groove to match zeroes with Glavine.

In the fifth, the Braves got to Oseguera again. He walked two to lead off the inning, though one was caught stealing, before Ryan Barba drilled his second home run of the year into the Braves bullpen beyond the left field fence. The two-run home run gave Rome a 3-0 lead behind Glavine and a solid effort from J.J Hoover out of the Braves bullpen.

Hoover earned his first save of the year, firing three scoreless innings from the Rome bullpen and allowing one hit with four strikeouts. The hit off Hoover, a single by Ehire Adrianza, provided the only GreenJackets baserunner past the second inning.

Glavine (1-0) picked up his first South Atlantic League win this season and second straight win, counting a win in his last minor league outing - a rehab start on May 28th with the Gwinnett Braves (AAA) against the Indianapolis Indians. Glavine allowed three hits and no walks with a pair of strikeouts.

Oseguera (1-1), who also faced John Smoltz on May 21st, struck out seven and allowed three runs on five hits and two walks in a seven inning stint.

The GreenJackets will send Mike Loree (1-4, 5.40) to the mound to try and snap their three-game losing skid. He’ll be opposed by fellow righty Jacob Thompson (2-4, 5.02). First pitch from State Mutual Stadium comes at 7:05 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on WRDW AM 1630 and online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.

The GreenJackets return home for a three-game series with the Savannah Sand Gnats beginning with a 7:05 start on Saturday June 6th. You may purchase seats by calling 706-922-WINS or online at www.greenjacketsbaseball.com.

So there’s a job opening in Atlanta?

Not any more. The Braves just acquired CF Nate McLouth from Pittsburgh. They freed up money space for McLouth by releasing Glavine.

They were talking about this on sports talk radio. As MArge Simpson said its time for Glavine to gracefully step aside. The braves have a nice rotation this year and it will be better when Hudson comes back. Its the offense that is there problem and that was helped by the trade with Pittsburgh.
