“Now that pythons and monitor lizards are established down there well probably never get rid of them unless southern Florida has extended deep freezes, highly unlikely.”
Create a new hunting season with extended bag limits. I’d imagine a 180 grain .30-06 HP to the head would be a good choice for such game. If that won’t do the trick, I never want to come across one.
I would think a .22 mag out of a rifle should do the job. Lacking that a 12 gauge loaded with number sixes or fours should make the snake lose his head, or a good part of it.
In my experience snakes of all kinds are fairly easy to kill. My daddy took it too far and use a long slender switch and he would invariably break the snakes back with it. I think he was showing off but it worked.
Me I liked to kill them with a .22 pistol as long as they are no bigger than a Florida diamondback which seldom get longer than 7 feet.
