An insider told The Sun that producers are concerned about the mental state of the 48-year-old and have said that they will not let her sing on live TV if there is a chance that she will crack under the pressure.
The source claimed that executives have been alarmed by her "erratic behaviour", including an incident where Susan allegedly swore at police.
A source said: "The last thing producers want is a meltdown on national TV. It's been made clear that if she's not right mentally, she won't appear in the final."
The show's producers have provided a secret safe-house to give Susan a refuge from the media spotlight and she has reportedly been moved from the Wembley Plaza Hotel to the hideaway.
The insider said: "Show bosses told us to get Susan's mind right because there are genuine concerns about her health. She desperately needs breathing space.
"The idea is to get into a place where her privacy is better managed than at a hotel. She'll be totally shielded from people other than her closest advisors."
Piers Morgan has appealed to the media to "give Susan a break".
He wrote on his official website: "Susan is finding it very difficult to cope, and to stay calm. She has been in tears many times during the last few days, and even felt like quitting altogether and fleeing all the attention."

I feel bad for the poor woman. She was not prepared for this, and after being called lovely things like “hairy angel” for weeks, I’m not surprised she is having a few problems.

Leave the lady alone. This is politics, the bosses don't want the church lady to win and they are grasping at just about any excuse to keep her from competing. What hogwash this is.

You’re right. How could she pssibly have been prepared for this? However, she has what so much of he world doesn’t. I don’t care what they did to upset her, she’s not like the rest of us, she is a major talent. Just leave the woman alone and let her sing.
