Hey, neighbor!

Sevin works on cabbage loopers in your area? The only thing that works here is Dipel. There used to be huge fields of cabbage and potatoes here and most insects are immune to sevin. And your lettuce is still going? Mine went to seed about 3 weeks ago and I fed it to the chickens. They really enjoyed it!

Whenever my lettuce shows signs of bolting, I pull the top off the plant and that buys me another week or two. =] But truly, I must have got a heat-resistant variety, because it hasn't really started going to seed yet. The lettuce has been really splendid this year in Rocky Mount. I couldn't be happier with it.

Yes, Sevin seems to work in my backyard garden. The guys growing soy and cotton in the local fields apparently don't use anything so benign.

my grandma used to feed over ripe cucumbers to the chickens and they went nuts for that stuff.
