There's a bit of a trend brewing this summer concert season -- put together a couple of big-name acts for a nationwide tour, then record a song together to promote the event. Styx and REO have teamed up for a song and tour. It started with classic rockers REO Speedwagon and Styx, with their "Can't Stop Rockin' " tour and single of the same name. Now Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire are getting on the bandwagon.

Actually I went to see that tour, and the songs were much better live than on the record.
But definitely stay away from “Zero Tolerance For Silence.”

iirc they never toured much cause one of them(Fagin i think) had unmanageable stage fright... i hope he is truly over it. I just wish Andy Partridge of XTC would get over his stage fright, they've done some amazing albums, and they would have been awesome to see live.

Love the Dan though.Love the tunes. Hate the politics.
Jeez, REO Speedwagon is back to ring the register? I had thought that the 80's claimed Gary Richrath? What next, Molly Hatchet, April Wine, Aldo Nova? Ugh...

I wouldnt call Steely Dan pop, but I just purchased my tickets to their June 19th show at the Wharf in Orange Beach Alabama. I believe Styx and REO are playing there soon as well but not a fan. Love the Dan though.

Me too. I never considered Steely Dan pop. And unlike a lot of other bands from that era, their music hasnt staled as much as some others perhaps because of the jazz influences?

I saw Styx in 78 the Grand Illusion tour and it was a very good show but I wouldnt go out of my way to see them now days. Same with Journey.

I hope you enjoy the show. Ill have to look to see if Steely Dan is coming to my area. I would love to see them live in concert.

    Steely Dan was cool.
I wouldn't go see Styx or Journey or REO Speedwagon even if the tickets and the beer were free.

It’s an insult to Steely Dan to lump them in with those other spare bands.
Styx was the gayest band, ever.

I’ll bet Styx makes out with REO Speedwagon after the show.

And Styx without Dennis DeYoung just isn’t quite the same.
