There's a bit of a trend brewing this summer concert season -- put together a couple of big-name acts for a nationwide tour, then record a song together to promote the event. Members of Styx, REO Speedwagon and Journey in 2003. Styx and REO have teamed up for a song and tour. Members of Styx, REO Speedwagon and Journey in 2003. Styx and REO have teamed up for a song and tour. It started with classic rockers REO Speedwagon and Styx, with their "Can't Stop Rockin' " tour and single of the same name. Now Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire are getting on the bandwagon.

You should check out Pat Metheny’s first album “Bright Size Life” with Jaco on bass.
True, heavens I didn't mean to imply those two. LOL
And ethnicity aside those two guys were not stupid, so investing their booty wisely was SOP. I'd bet on it.
These former "super groups" are probably bored, want to get outa Dodge, hear the cheers again. To each their own.
Ain't America grea...no wait, wasn't America great. LOL
But then there's ol' Billy Joel, eh?
Lost it all and a gold digger, too.
I'm sure there're others, too.
Here in the Midwest Fleetwood Mac is going to be touring, and they have to be candidates for people who probably pissed away their fortunes.
Of course there's the flip side, the Stevie Wonders who had and continue to receive king's ransom royalties while never quite figuring out when it's time to go away.
Yep, it's hard to believe that this is the same guy that put out classic albums like Innervisions and Songs In the Key of Life.
“Bad sneakers and a pina colada...” ;-)
Saw Journey at Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth back in the late 70’s, I believe it was. Opening act, The Babys. Fantastic concert. There’s just something about Steve Perry that makes my heart go pitter pat.
Man, you just nailed two of my favs from the man. Though I'm also quite fond of his Talking Book, also.
As obnoxious an anachronism as he is today, he'll remain very wealthy off those 3 if he were never to do another thing. Which frankly wouldn't be a bad idea if only he had a life. LOL
Jaco’s bass-playing is a little off these days.
Where did you get the line “They call Alabama the Crimson Tide/Call me Deacon Blues”?
Walter and I had been working on that song at a house in Malibu. I played him that line, and he said, “You mean it’s like, ‘They call these cracker assholes this grandiose name like the Crimson Tide, and I’m this loser, so they call me this other grandiose name, Deacon Blues?’ “ And I said, “Yeah!” He said, “Cool! Let’s finish it!”
enjoy the concert....tell them this cracker said FO.
You are black, and I am white
You're as blind as a bat, and I have sight
Side by side, you are my amigo
negro -- let's not fight ...
Maybe he can get together with Joe Zawinul, and Martin Fierro the departed.
Another one definitely worthwhile is “As Falls Wichita, So Fall Wichita Falls” by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays.
BWWWWWHAAAAAA!!!
And NO I'm not going to check that one out, either.
Here's one of those times I'm content to accept sucker status, and leave it go at that. LOL!!
Stay away from this. Away!
My guess is that they've come to realize that they can no longer live on their social security checks alone......
IIRC, Reo Speedwagon was a group from Champaign, IL (U. of Illinois) who did Midwest college tours in the early 70’s before they became “big time”.
I saw them in concert (1972 or ‘73) and thought they were much better in their salad days.
Same thing with Ted Nugent. Saw him in 1971 before he went national. Much better.
Kool and the Gang also did the early ‘70’s college tour before hitting big time. Never saw them, but a friend had an 8-track album that he used to blast in his Olds 442.
Ah! The good old days. You can’t recreate them.
my old school...
