You didn't read the entire post, and no, it is not torture. The key ingredient is a natural reflex and all of us have undergone it one time or the other. Doesn't mean it's comfortable, but it keeps us FROM drowning.

Real torture results in permanent and real injury.

Deviations from that standard are deceptive and to be avoided.
