A bumper sticker: Kick The Unconscious

If the cameras weren’t rolling they would have got away with it. Good or bad, who knows. The idiot endangered every person in every car he passed on the chase, so a good kick to the head might put some sense into him, or the next guy that thinks about running.

The only objection I have being-he could not feel the proper thumping the cops were giving him!

Simple rule to remember:

If the cops have to chase you, they’ll be bringing an ass-kicking with them.

The liberals would complain if the thug lost his driver’s license.

Practice for when they “come for” all the right wing extremists?

Takes a real ‘tough guy’ to beat an unconscious man. Typical.

Seems to me the guy was fleeing for good reason.

‘Protect & serve’ my ass.

I live about fifty miles from Bham, and as you can imagine, this is a hot topic in the media. As much as I am sympathetic to the officers involved, they violated their oaths and the laws of the State of Alabama. Police officers are not ABOVE the law. Because law enforcement officers are given much power, they have to use it with restraint. I do not feel any sympathy for the hoodlum, and he is now serving twenty years in prison. The officers deserved to be fired. They knew what they did was wrong. I do agree with the previous posters, if you run from the cops, get ready for an ass-beating.

From the video the “Van Guy” was a menace to anyone near him and his 3,000 pound “Human Mallet”. In fact, he sideswipes 2 vehicles and if not for the quick response of the officer laying down spike strips, he would have killed the officer.

We don't see video that precedes this but if the cops start dragging out spike strips, you have been driving in a manner that will lead someone or many people deaths.

Adrenaline does a lot to you on these chases. Been on a few as a ride along and you get amped up. The first officer strikes “Van Guy” with a flashlight and falling backwards the rest of the cops join in a 10 second melee.
They may have thought the other cop was pushed back.

If the guy was unconscious he probably did not incur any serious injury as a result. In fact, I will bet most serious injuries occurred when he was ejected from the Van.

I hope he is cited for not wearing a seatbelt. If the vehicle you are driving flips over, wearing a seatbelt could save your life or mitigate aggravated assault by cops.
