Brad Pitt offers above the odds for Hollywood market chairs
13/05/2009
Lucky Brad Pitt is obviously recession-proof.
While haggling for a pair of chairs at a Hollywood market, he was told by the dealer they only cost $1,500.
Our mole says: "He asked if the guy would take 'twelve'...
$12,000. The dealer was stunned, it made his week."
All right for some..
TOPICS:
KEYWORDS: brad; chairs; hollywood; pitt
A nice story from a guy who deals in vintage furniture at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. (The dealer) had two high end Knoll lounge chairs for sale when Brad saw them. It seems he tried to purchase a pair of chairs just like them for $20,000 at auction and lost.

Momentarily, Brad is off my excrement list...

Not mine.
Let him spend that money helping out people who are behind in their mortgages, you know, the ones he thinks you and I should bail out.

Smart move on Pitts part. Rather than have it come out later that, even though he paid what the guy was asking, he knew the chairs real values and was straight with the guy.
Win-Win all around.

Maybe. Maybe not.
The point I was making, which I think you get, is that he is a lib famous for his denunciation of America’s vices. He could do a lot to erase some of his hypocrisy if he gave a few of his many, many millions to Americans who have been hurt by the economy.

Maybe Brad meant 12 hundred as a counter-offer to 15 hundred - not 12 thousand.

Nah, he's a collector of high-end modern art furniture. Just pointing out that 12K is pocket change for him.

Yeow! Is that ‘art’ or just another (really expensive) expense?
