Okay, so the open beers in the car isn't enough for you? I'm not saying he's guilty right off the bat, but you got to admit it doesn't look good for him. And he knows he was wrong for drinking and driving. Even you have to admit that.

And finally, $7500 for DUI involving death? Yeah, that IS low. Considering that in some states for the same offense it would be at least 10 times that, yes, it IS low.

I think you don’t go from drunk to sober in 1.5 hours, but I can personally attest (many years ago and the statute of limitations has long since run!) that you can indeed go from sober to drunk in that amount of time. But yes, there’s a pretty reliable algorithm that will calculate BAC backwards. I think his biggest problem will be that he admitted having 10 beers. That’s a bunch, and he’s a minor.

My guess is they will get him vehicular homicide, but the DWI is on shaky ground.
