Oregon is managing its cougar population because of the conflicts with humans in the past, California would do well to follow Oregons example.

Thanks for the pings, Jaz. I heard my cougar "buddy" again on Tuesday night at 9pm in the Spring Mountains northwest of Pahrump. It was caterwauling, I guess you'd say. It's an eerie sound, but he still hasn't revealed himself. There are three wild horses on this ridge too. They're somewhat aggressive, and they let me know by whinnying and some footstomping not to come near. I imagine they would keep a cougar at bay too.
A wild horse would not be something to mess with. I think I'd rather take on a cougar. LOL!
