What is your experience? I work at the Pentagon. I work on unit activations, organization and naming. The unit is the 187th Fighter Wing. You are completely wrong. There is no such thing as an "Air National Guard Wing."
As I said before, accuracy is important.
Your search did not include quotes. Do it right, and you will find one hit on google...this very thread.
I've been to the 187th.
You keep criticizing your fellow FReepers for small errors in an article published on the website “F-16.net - The Ultimate F-16 Reference.”
I suggest you direct your anger to them.
From the “Read Me” page at “The Obama File”:
“I don’t write this stuff. I cherry-pick it and archive it here. The overwhelming number of items in this archive are from mainstream media sources and what I believe are reliable, if sometimes partisan, blogs. I make every attempt to provide attribution and/or links to the original source. Many of the items in this archive have multiple sources/links. If you don’t like the writer’s viewpoint, send them an email, not me.”
If we want the libs and MSM to be accurate, it is the least we could require of ourselves. This thread, and much of the Obama File that I have glanced at, is riddled with inaccuracies.
As far as small errors go, read up on how we busted Dan Rather with his fake memos from the 187th.
You might want to check my name in relation to that story.
There are two-seater F-16s. Do a google image search and you’ll see.
But still, I wouldn’t think a fighter canopy would have the best optics for photography.
I know that. I was offering that as an example of the errors people are posting.
But still, I wouldnt think a fighter canopy would have the best optics for photography.
Have you ever been under one?
I know who you are.
But comments, like this: “You, and the “Obama File” don’t know enough to recognize your error.” are unnecessary.
It’s not our error. It’s the writer’s error, but you choose to attack Fred Nerks and The Obama File, rather than the source.
We’re just engaged in a discussion. You’re engaged in — I don’t know what?
I post an item from what I conside a reliable source. Fred Nerks re-publishes the larger article, containing the comment from F-16.net here and you go off on us.
What’s your problem?
It is true. Witness the fact that you are still trying to defend the errors.
Were just engaged in a discussion. Youre engaged in I dont know what?
Correction. It is all a part of the discussion. I know you would love to be able to pass this all off as the Gospel, but it is not.

If correcting an inaccuracy is "going off" then you I can't help.
I’m not trying to defend the writer’s “errors” at all.
I contend that his article is factual, even if his choice of words doesn’t meet your standards of precision.
But this statement, that you made in Post #27:
“ex: there are no 2-seat F-16s...”
Is false.
Here’s the article:

Take it up with the writer.
The 187th Fighter Wing is very clearly a unit of the Alabama Air National Guard. So while you are technically correct that “There is no such thing as an ‘Air National Guard Wing’”, it is a distinction that matters little to most. The essence of the story does not change with your correction, and your offering it in a tone of “OMFG, THESE PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS FOR SAYING THAT!” does little to impress. In fact, quite the reverse.
Similarly with “commanding general” and “Chief of Staff”.
Ahhhhhhhh! The voice of reason.
The "ex" means example...an example of the errors people have posted regarding this story. I have 4 years on F-16s...I know what flavors they come in.
Are you Fred's daddy?
No, it is OMFG THESE PEOPLE WON'T LISTEN WHEN CORRECTED.
Similarly with commanding general and Chief of Staff.
Wrong. Just plain wrong.
Sheesh.
Read.
