Tori Amos has blasted voters who pushed through a gay marriage ban in California - because it goes against the teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr.
The hitmaker, whose father is a Methodist minister, insists outlawing same-sex unions is un-Christian and a breach of civil rights.
And she is confused Californian voters passed the Proposition 8 bill - which reversed a previous ruling permitting gay marriage in the state - on the same day Barack Obama was elected U.S. President last year.
She tells Attitude magazine, "(I was) extremely disappointed. Well, we go back to this concept of emancipation. The idea of 'We will overcome' from the great Dr. Martin Luther King, was made flesh as Obama was put into the office and yet at the same time another group of people were subjugated by some of those voters.
"A lot of people were saying, 'Well you have to understand that a lot of the voters are Democratic and Christians, the ones that had an issue with rights for the gay community'. And I would say how, in any way, is that the Christian path?"

They didn’t used to.
And she can’t seem to sit like a normal person on a piano
bench. Squirming, one or both legs sprawled out. Pinworms?
I believe you are correct. If the judges side with the activists and not the people they represent, there will be more than anger - there will never be one iota of trust in them again for any decision they render. Right now judges are sitting on another "issue" that defies the rights of Americans to know. These judges are taking away our votes, our rights and turning our country upside down and discarding our Constitution as if it were yesterday's newspaper. The majority of Americans will not kindly accept if their vote is ignored, circumvented and discarded. ACORN aside, we're pretty much fed up with the voting/elections processes that seem to mirror USSR style corruption and not the will of the people.
If that's the place you're coming from, then I'm happy to retract my statement. You're right I don't speak for you nor do I speak for many like you. Heaven forbid I stand in line with those with the hubris to permit another American's chosen relationship.
...and you find arrogance in my statement?
Have a blessed day.
Ok, so I had her mixed up with someone else. I guess some people never outgrow their youthful shallowness and I guess her mama didn’t drown all the dumb ones.
Why should I care what she thinks?
I have a dream that one day my grandsons, and my neighbors’ grandsons, will be able to join together in the bonds of Holy Matrimony.....
Sorry, I must have been asleep for that part of the speech
Heaven and you, my friend, are at odds in this matter. People are people, and privacy is privacy, but a forbidden sexual relationship — incest, homosexuality, adultery — once evidenced publicly beyond any doubt, is notorious just for that evidence. There is no good in them. A society that allows such behavior to go unrebuked is a society committing self-mutilation, and if done pervasively — a society that self-destructs.
