Feds ready to build virtual fence along border with Mexico

Federal officials within weeks plan to start construction on a new "virtual fence" along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Plans are expected to be formally announced tomorrow.

Supporters say the system could almost completely cover the nearly 2,000-mile frontier within five years.

The first permanent towers with sensors, cameras and communications gear to detect drug smugglers and illegal immigrants will be built along 53 miles of Arizona.

Customs official Mark Borkowski says more towers will follow on the remaining 320 miles of Arizona's southern border.

Borkowski says virtual fencing then will go up in New Mexico, followed by California and most of Texas.

Well, if its a virtual fence, why not just tell everyone its already built. It could be virtually completed.

They’ll probably have ACORN volunteers waiting with pre-filled out registration forms.

Why bother with ACORN volunteers? With all that technology they can just have ACORN kiosks as part of the fence posts. That way the ACORN workers don’t suffer exposure.

All they have to do is show data indicating no one crossing the border and declare victory. It could be completed without even leaving the studio.

The spacing of the posts could be used to keep overweight people out. Oh sorry that is not PC. I mean people with a over abundance of lack of skinnyness. Could also be used to keep the bundles of drugs much smaller.

Good one. But doesn’t it only work with collars?

“Boondoggle”, and “I told you so” in advance. I

t won’t work. It isn’t supposed to. When it doesn’t work, it will be used as an example of how ‘fences don’t work’. Meanwhile, Jonny McQueeg brings home a little mo’ bacon for his handlers.

Another virtual fence, meant only to fool virtual idiots.

Note that there are very real fences around the White House and Camp David.

.

The fence that never dies!

Or gets built!

The Great Wall Of China was built faster than this!

- and it was actually a wall - and it actually worked!

Can’t we get some East German Commies to build us a wall?

I’ll bet the Russkies could build us a wall pretty quickly - and at a decent price....
