"Angels & Demons" Director Sees Vatican Meddling ( Another Liberal Idiot! )

ROME (Reuters) - Director Ron Howard accused the Vatican on Sunday of trying to hamper the filming and the Rome roll-out of his new movie "Angels & Demons," and challenged Catholic critics to see the film before condemning it.

The movie sequel to author Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code" will premiere in Rome on Monday, with fictional symbologist Robert Langdon returning to the big screen to help the Vatican rescue kidnapped cardinals and find a ticking time-bomb.

The Vatican was outraged by "The Da Vinci Code" and the Rome archdiocese made no secret about denying Howard authorization to film parts of the follow-up inside its churches.

Howard said the Vatican also exerted its influence "through backchannels" to try to prevent him from shooting in areas around certain churches and got an event related to the film's premiere canceled, he said.

"There was supposed to be a reception or screening here in Rome that had been approved and I suppose that the Vatican had some influence over that," Howard told a news conference.

A Vatican spokesman declined to comment.

Fanning controversy, a 102-year-old Italian bishop was quoted in Italian media over the weekend calling the film "highly denigrating, defamatory and offensive to Church values and the reputation of the Holy See."

"My only frustration as a film-maker is that we actually reached out a couple of times, going back to March, to sort of offer opportunities for bishops and others just to see the film. And those opportunities have all been declined," Howard said.

"So far all the criticism, all of the complaints about the film have been coming from people who haven't seen it."

The arrogance of Hollywood.....

They think what they do is so important....their job is to pretend, yes they are good at pretending but that is all they do......

The Obamacorn, dOpie is taking himself too seriously again. I didn’t see his last bogus Da Vinci movie and I don’t intend to see this one. I’ve read, “Holy Blood, Holy Grail” and have also read how the authors were embarrassed when they found that they had fallen for a hoax. The same hoax that dOpie is now pimping to the public and making big bucks doing it. Howard is a punk.

Does Ron Howard really think that Bishops would even want to watch his movie when they’ve got important things to do with their time?

Hollyweird thinks people are just waiting for their next movie? They all need to get REAL jobs.

It was an okay book — too bad they cast the superannuated Tom Hanks in the lead.

I liked it better too. A much more engaging and suspenseful story line. I also learned some interesting things about vatican ceremony when electing a new pope.

The blood will be flowing in this movie from beginning to end.

I see that it's rated 'PG-13 for sequences of violence, disturbing images and thematic material.'

I don't know how it escaped an R rating with all the violence.

Since his idiotic rant about how the US is a militaristic society, etc, I'm all done with Opie.

Fiction people, fiction.

Except the snakeoil salesman "author" claims that they aren't really fiction.

If you paid for both books you're just another sucker and the hours you wasted reading that garbage are gone forever. Congratulations.

I would like to see a Class Action Lawsuit against the studio/filmaker/production crew for violating copyright rules in making unauthorized photos of the Vatican.

The Vatican was quite upset that these perverts ignored the Vatican...

I hear a baby having a tantrum, waaaaah, waaah, wah...Words don’t express the way I feel right now. As far as I’m concerned Opie might as well have been saying, shut up, do as I say and stand still while I rub your nose in poo. Where does he get off??? The property belongs to the Catholic church. They have an absolute right to do as they see fit with it.

Ron Howard is one of the most vivid examples of CSUA Syndrome:

Childhood Stars, Ugly Adult Syndrome.

How does such a cute, appealing childhood star grow up to be such a dumb-as-a-box-of-rocks obnoxious and ugly adult?

Divine intervention, I guess.

Howard, like the majority of clowns his age were indoctrinated for decades by Marxist/Socialist/Communist, anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-Catholic Leftist college and university professors and the final products have been the likes of the Howard's, Obama’s,Clinton's, Kennedy's et al...
