She got bumped coming out of the gate, putting her in last place for a few seconds. The move she made along the rail was identical to the move the jockey made the last time he won the Derby.

Hell yeah ... the lessons here by far surpass Green Eggs and Ham.
I didn't watch the Derby, but after reading a couple of blurbs today, I went looking ... what a great horse.

Yep, the other horses looked like they were standing still as Mine That Bird just flew by them.

My wife bet on him — all the longshots, actually — another proof of a longshot theory I used to play thirty-five years ago. Some longshots are great bets. And my granddad always said if you are going to bet anything, bet the jockey.

That was one hell of a race. We enjoyed it so much.
And we had a little in-house betting going on. My 12-year-old won the whole pot by choosing Mine that Bird!
His jockey was wonderful. I am sad for his owner that the previous owners gelded him. Who knew??

That’s the shot. It explains it perfectly. I still can’t believe it, but it shows how he did it.

I agree, she looked like a completely different animal. It brought a tear to my eye to see her go like that.
